Nominated Awards
The Bal-Raj Sehgal Memorial Award is a biennial recognition for early- to mid-career individuals who have made outstanding contributions to thermal-hydraulics, particularly in nuclear reactor safety.
Meritorious Service Award
The Thermal Hydraulic Meritorious Service Award honors individuals for long-standing and exemplary service to the nuclear thermal-hydraulic profession, with emphasis on sustained contributions.
Technical Achievement Award
The Technical Achievement Award, the highest honor given by the THD, is awarded annually to a member for exceptional technical contributions, advancements, important publications, significant technical achievements, or a sustained record of excellence in the field of thermal hydraulics.
NURETH Scholar Award
The NURETH Scholar Award (formerly NURETH fellows) honors scholars who have made outstanding contributions to numerous International Topical Meetings on Nuclear Reactor Thermal-Hydraulics (NURETH) since its inception in 1980.
Division Recognition
Division Best Paper Award
The Best Paper Award is given annually for the most outstanding full paper presented at the previous year's Division-sponsored thermal hydraulics sessions or topical meetings, based on originality, creativity, impact, and scientific integrity, with recommendations from session chairs and at-large members.
Excellence in Review Award
The Excellence in Review Award recognizes THD scholars for exceptional review service and outstanding review quality of ANS meeting submissions or THD-sponsored meetings.
Scholarships
Lawrence E. Hochreiter Graduate Scholarship
The Lawrence E. Hochreiter Graduate Scholarship was established for graduate students enrolled in a U.S. institution pursuing a Master's or a Ph.D. with the main focus on thermal-hydraulics as applied to nuclear energy.
Vincent J. Esposito Scholarship
The Vincent J. Esposito Graduate Scholarship was established for students enrolled in their first year, or one year prior to enrollment of a post-baccalaureate program of study in Thermal Hydraulics or Reactor Safety.
